The Bombers took game one 7–1 behind another masterful pitching performance by senior Nick Sottung.
Sottung threw a complete game, going the distance in seven innings, only giving up four hits and one run to earn his 31st career victory.
Senior shortstop Josh Smith went three for three from the plate, driving in two runs and scoring three. Freshman third baseman David Ahonen padded his team leading batting average going three for four with an RBI. Ahonen is currently hitting .483 and leads the team with 42 hits.
Sophomore Tom Fishback started game two, throwing five solid innings in his fourth win of the season.
Senior Rob Raux had two hits and a double with two runs batted in. Freshman centerfielder Shawn Moonan had two hits and scored a run.
The Blue and Gold finished 15–1 in conference play this season and currently sits at 23–8 overall.
The next game for the South Hill squad is at 4 p.m. Tuesday against the University of Rochester at Freeman Field.
