| Assistant Sports Editor

The baseball team continued Empire 8 play Saturday when it split a doubleheader with St. John Fisher College to make its conference record 13–1.

In the 3–2 game-one victory, senior left-hander Shane Wolf went the distance only giving up one earned run over seven innings pitched. Wolf walked one and struck out seven to earn his sixth win of the season.

Freshman third baseman David Ahonen continued his hot hitting going two for three from the plate. Ahonen leads the team with a .483 batting average.

Seniors Rob Raux, Josh Smith and junior Drew Ash all contributed a run batted in.

The South Hill squad dropped game two 4–3 in its first conference loss of the season. Junior Pete MacDaniel got the start giving up three earned runs and six hits over five innings pitched.

The Blue and Gold pulled to within one run in the top of the sixth inning on a single by Raux, which scored Junior Matt Samela.

Junior Bryan Gardner relieved MacDaniel and shut down the Cardinals in the sixth, but the Bombers could not capitalize in the top of the seventh when junior Alan Kartholl grounded into a double play to end the game.

With the split, the South Hill squad’s record stood at 22–7.
