Body recovered in search for missing student

| Senior Writer

A vigil will be held at 8 p.m. tonight in Muller Chapel for Ithaca College freshman William Jacobson, whose body investigators recoverered this morning in the Farm Road pond. Jacobson had been missing since Sunday morning.

A State Police Dive team found the body around 9:30 a.m. today in the Farm Road pond, said Dave Maley, associate director of media relations.

An ambulance arrived on the scene around 9:30 a.m., according to a Bangs Ambulance representative, and left a short time later. The body was transported by ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center for an autopsy. Maley said the search has concluded.

Senior Sara Howard drove to campus around 9:45 a.m. She said she thought she saw officials remove the body from the water.

"They got it underneath the sheet pretty quickly and moved it over the Jersey barrier,"  she said. "It was hidden from sight for a while but then I could see it was stretched out on a stretcher."

There will be a press conference at 1 p.m. in the main lobby of the Public Safety building.
