Student residents of a Circle 1 Apartment reported this morning their apartment had been burglarized. Public Safety officials said the state of the apartment indicates a forced entry.

    Investigator Tom Dunn said cash, a computer and various personal items including CDs and two iPods were found missing by the four male students. They estimated the property had been stolen sometime between 2:30 and 7:30 a.m. The incident was reported to Public Safety around 7:45 a.m., Dunn said.

    Dunn said investigators found a window screen damaged and popped out of its place. The students told Public Safety the window had been in good condition.

    “Considering [members of] the residence reported that the front and back doors were locked, potentially someone could have entered through the window,” Dunn said. “That’s likely.”

    The students told officials that they were asleep at the time and did not hear anyone enter their residence.

    The case has been classified as a burglary and an investigation is pending. Dunn said there are no leads.  He said the burglary may have been committed by friends or neighbors who may have had access to a key for the apartment.

    Dunn said forced entry is rare on campus.

     “We’re looking for the community to help supply us with leads,” Dunn said.

    An intercom alert will be released by the college later this weekend. No other related reports were brought to Public Safety’s attention as of 7:30 a.m. this morning.
