Snoop deserves ego
| Senior Writer
The first track reassures listeners that Snoop’s T.V. and movie cameos haven’t led him astray. The next track follows suit, claiming he’s “Still hittin’ switches, still gettin’ riches / Still the best in the game, I’m still hittin’ pitches.”
Meanwhile, the bulk of the album showcases synthesized backbeats and flashy R&B vocals — also electronically distorted — that, while catchy, do more ego stroking for the songs’ producers than for Snoop.
That’s not to say “Ego Trippin” skimps on the Dogg. The last few — and best — tracks in particular incorporate the album’s R&B and electronic motifs under a barrage of lyrics that contrast the earlier, more experimental songs.
"Ego Trippin" by Snoop Dogg recieved two and a half out of four stars.
