Boyce Avenue has exploded on the YouTube circuit in the past year, becoming the 19th most subscribed musician. The boys have garnered some well-deserved attention by covering songs by artists like OneRepublic and Rihanna. Brothers Daniel, Alejandro and Fabian Manzano, along with Stephen Hatker, just released their debut record, “All You’re Meant to Be.”
The band’s flavor is that of iconic American alternative rock, almost emulating the sounds of The Goo Goo Dolls. The simple guitar and drums allow the songs’ melodies to really shine. The opening track typifies the album with emphasis on lyrics and Alejandro’s soothing vocalizations. The band’s acoustic roots really shine on the more stripped tracks “Find Me” and “So Much Time.”
While the simplicity of the band’s rock may leave some listeners longing for more, the endearing lyrics will keep most singing along to the catchy melodies.
"All You're Meant to Be" by Boyce Avenue received three out of four stars.
