Campus Voices
The Ithacan provides college community a forum for its opinions and thoughts

Along with covering news, art, style and sports, The Ithacan offers a platform for campus voices in its opinion pages and online blogs.

Columnists offer a personal viewpoint on issues of their choice. While they do not speak on behalf of the paper, or the entire student body, they add to the diversity of opinions in each week’s issue.

This semester, junior Zach Tomanelli’s “Progress Report” will comment on international and domestic issues and news events, using the lens of progressive politics. Freshman Sarah Kasulke will offer a humorous take on the relationship between college life and the media. Her column, “In the Circuit,” will reflect on television shows, music, books and the Internet.

Online, The Ithacan offers readers more commentary on a wide range of subjects in its blogs. Assistant News Editor Aaron Edwards writes about celebrities and comments on entertainment news. Junior Becky Webster updates readers on Ithaca’s greening efforts, while providing insight into the global green movement.

Freshman Lilly Miller, former columnist for The Ithacan, describes the absurd situations in which she finds herself. Sports Editor Casey Musarra, sports columnist Cory Francer and staff writer Bryan Shay blog from the sidelines about the world of sports — from the collegiate to the national level.

By incorporating individual voices and providing a platform for diverse viewpoints, The Ithacan hopes its readers will find thought-provoking, interesting and sometimes entertaining bodies of work that they will want to read again and again.
