Gymnastics team falls in five-team meet
Contributing Writer |
The gymnastics team, though being overcome, held its own against Division I and II colleges in the five-team competition yesterday at Cornell University.

Even though University of Bridgeport scored 190.550, Cornell 190.200, Towson University 188.900 and Southern Connecticut State University 185.850, Ithaca still proved its achievement as an outranked team by scoring a bang-up 182.750.

With a season-best score of 46.525 on the vault, the Bombers placed sophomore Jessica Bolduc and senior Rachel Taylor within the top 10 in that event. Senior Brianne Sullivan performed an impressive balance beam routine and scored a personal best 9.600, which earned her sixth place. Another notable routine came from freshman Katie Sampson on the floor exercise with a ninth-place score of 9.425.

The South Hill squad’s all-around competitors faired well too. Bolduc placed sixth with a 36.475, while sophomore Kay Gordon placed right behind her in seventh with a score of 36.050. The two have been top scorers for the Bombers all season and continue to be consistent.

The Blue and Gold will host the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational on Saturday in Ben Light Gymnasium and go up against three other teams, Wilson College, SUNY-Brockport and SUNY-Cortland.
