For the first since the 2001-02 season, the men’s basketball team defeated St. John Fisher College. It couldn’t have come at a better time either.

The Bombers beat the Cardinals 84–73 this past Saturday, which came on the heels of an 82–64 win against Alfred University Friday. With the pair of road victories, the Blue and Gold improved to 15–8 overall and 10–4 in the Empire 8.

With the 10–4 conference mark, the Bombers sit locked in a three-way tie for second place in the Empire 8 with St. John Fisher and Nazareth College. Stevens Institute of Technology remains in first place with a 12–3 conference record.

Juniors point guard Sean Burton and center Jeff Bostic both had stellar weekends. Burton tallied 21 points and six assists in the win against Alfred, followed by 26 points and another six assists against the Cardinals.

Bostic dominated the paint against St. John Fisher, finishing with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting, to go along with a career-high 19 rebounds. Against the Saxons Bostic finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Junior forward Sean Leahy recorded his first career double-double against Alfred, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while junior guard Brendan Rogers added 11 points in the win against the Cardinals.

The Bombers face the first-place Ducks at 8 p.m. Friday in the Ben Light Gymnasium and then conclude their regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday at home against Nazareth.
