Men's cross country takes second in Empire 8

Senior Curt Bell (26:10) was Ithaca’s top finisher, placing third overall. Sophomore Daniel Craighead (26:33) finished one spot behind Bell in fourth. Senior Scott Walker (26:41) and junior John Davis (26:42) placed in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Ithaca’s top-four runners earned first-team all-Empire 8. Junior Tyler Gustafson (27:18) earned second-team all-Empire 8 with his 13th-place finish. Freshman Billy Savage (27:42) and senior Phil Abbott (27:46) rounded out Ithaca’s top-seven with 17th and 18th place finishes, respectively.
Rochester Institute of Technology nabbed first place and the Empire 8 title. The Tigers finished with 25 points, claiming the top-two spots in the meet and seven out of the top 11.
RIT senior Jared Burdick (25:34) was the meet’s top finisher. The Bombers finished only eight points behind the Tigers.
Utica College finished in a distant third with 102 points and Nazareth College held off Stevens Institute of Technology by two points to take fourth place.
Ithaca has a week off before travelin to Mount Norris, N.Y., on Nov. 14 to compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships at Baldwin-Wallace in Berea, Ohio.
