The men’s varsity 8 started the day off with their only race of the meet, defeating St Lawrence and Skidmore in 7:46. The men’s second varsity 8 beat St Lawrence’s novice 8 in 7:01.8, with the Bombers’ actual novice 8 finishing third in 7:28.2. A couple hours later, the men’s varsity 4 won their race against Skidmore and St. Lawrence in 6.41.2. and the Bombers’ A and B teams ended the day with a 1-2 finish in 8:36:7 and 8:38.8, respectively.
Both varsity 8 teams only competed in one race at the meet instead of competing both in the morning and afternoon.
“It kind of adds to our sense of urgency,” junior coxswain Elijah Earl said. “We don’t have the extra couple of weeks to play around with lineups and we really struggled with that pressure in the beginning. But now that we have a set timeline, it really helps us with focusing on where we want to be and when we want to be there and it hasn’t really affected us negatively.”
Junior Morgan Ewing said the Bombers are doing well, but they need to keep doing what they’re doing. Senior co-captain Chris Lisee said the team is in good position heading on the road.
The Bombers will begin the road portion of their schedule next Saturday when they compete against College of the Holy Cross, Tufts University, Colby College and Connecticut College in Worcester, Mass.
