Bombers bounce back from rare loss, defeat Hartwick
Staff Writer |

Coming off an overtime loss to out-of-conference Union College last Wednesday, the sixth-ranked men’s lacrosse team was looking to get back on track at Empire 8 rival Hartwick College yesterday. The Bombers emerged with a 15–11 win against the Hawks.

It took Ithaca one quarter to shake off their most recent loss, as they fell down 3–0 early on. Senior Craig Lepiane made sure to stop the slide though, scoring the first of his career-high five goals with 12:30 left to play in the first quarter. That goal started a Bomber run that would last for the rest of the game.

Senior Matt Nelligan chipped in three goals and two assists, while classmate Logan Bobzien scored two goals and recorded one assist as well.

Defensively the Bombers allowed double digits in goals for just the fifth time this season. They were almost perfect on clears, going 19–20.

As a whole, the team played a solid game in a hostile rival environment. Junior Matt Cutter and senior Mike Nowak were all over the field, combining for 16 groundballs.

The Bombers, now 5–1 in the Empire 8, next play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carp Wood Field against Stevens Institute of Technology.
