Squad bounces back from first loss, beats Utica 16-6
Staff Writer |
Coming off their first loss of the season to the Rochester Institute of Technology last Saturday, the men’s lacrosse team was looking to get back on track against Utica College this afternoon.

With a 16–6 victory, the Bombers looked like they were back to their usual selves. It a quarter of mediocre play, however, to wake the team up.

At the end of the first quarter, the Bombers were down 3–2 to the Pioneers. It looked like the slump may continue, but senior Craig Lepiane made sure the team turned it around. With two of his career-high five goals in the second period, Lepiane inspired the rest of the team to do likewise. By the end of the half, the Bombers were leading 7–4.

The game remained within reach for the Pioneers until the fourth quarter, when Ithaca exploded for six goals, allowing none in the process. On the offensive side, senior Logan Bobzien had one goal and five assists. He now has a team-best 31 assists on the season.

Senior Brandon Rose led the defensive effort, finishing with a team-high 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ithaca, now ranked sixth in the nation, will face 11th-ranked Nazareth College at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carp Wood Field.
