Men's lacrosse crushes Elmira

After losing its only game of the season to Rochester Institute of Technology on April 4, the men’s lacrosse team won four games in a row with the fourth one being a 21–7 win over Elmira College last Wednesday.

The Blue and Gold netted 12 straight goals in the first half. Fourteen different members of the South Hill squad scored.

Junior attackman/midfielder Nic Heckman and senior midfielder Mike Giunta each scored three goals. For Giunta, it was a career high for him and all three of his goals came in the first half.

Three players scored twice for the Blue and Gold.

Junior midfielder Roniel Bencosme, sophomore attackman/midfielder Jay Lucas, freshman D.J. Merriman, freshman attackman Michael Edwards and freshman Brian DiBetta, all scored the first goals of their Ithaca careers.

The Bombers played four different goalies in the game. Sophomore David Gal started the game and played the first half and made four saves. Senior tri-captain Ben Connery played in the third quarter making two saves, while freshmen Tim Palmer and Brendan Green both saw the first action of both of their careers in the fourth. Palmer made one save and Green made two.

The win improved the Bombers record to 12–1 overall and 5–1 in the Empire 8.
