The Bombers entered Sunday’s contest at Nazareth looking to avenge their double-overtime loss to Rochester Institute of Technology yesterday.
The Golden Flyers jumped out to an early lead scoring in the fifth minute of the game on a corner kick that slipped through the hands of junior goalkeeper Justin Parlapiano. Nearly 70 minutes later, junior midfielder Matt Baluzy scored his second goal of the season on a deflected shot to tie the game up in the 76th minute.
A minute after Baluzy’s goal, Nazareth sophomore midfielder Chris Eccles received a red card, causing the Golden Flyers to play a man down for the remainder of regulation and the two overtime periods.
Both teams had plenty of opportunities to put the game away in overtime as Nazareth recorded six shots and Ithaca took five in the two extra frames.
The Bombers return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they play St. John Fisher College at Carp Wood Field.
