Squad suffers double-overtime loss
Staff Writer |
Coming off two convincing wins at home, the men’s soccer team suffered a letdown Saturday afternoon losing at Rochester Institute of Technology 2–1 in double overtime.

The Bombers, who scored a combined six goals in their past two games, could not sustain their recent offensive success.

RIT took a 1–0 lead into halftime, but the Bombers set the tone early in the second half, tying the game up on a goal by senior back Justin Wu in the 51st minute. Senior Gerard Lewis provided the assist on the goal that knotted the score at 1–1.

The Blue and Gold had their best chance to break the tie in the 85th minute when a shot by junior forward Fernando Casanova ricocheted off the post.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Casanova fired a shot with less than four minutes to play that was saved by the diving RIT goalkeeper. On RIT’s following possession, the Tigers scored the game winner with under three minutes to play capping an exciting, yet disappointing game for the Bombers.
