The men’s swimming and diving team placed third out of five Empire 8 teams at the Don Richards Invitational last weekend at Rochester Institute of Technology with 769 team points.  

Sophomores Joe Gage and Steve Croucher, senior Mike Ariel and freshman Antoine Connors clinched a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Connors also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle. Gage placed second in the 100-yard freestyle and second in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Junior Matt Carolan placed third in the 400-yard individual medley. Croucher earned first place in the 100-yard butterfly.

Freshman diver Derek Rand placed third in the 1-meter diving event, and second in the 3-meter competition.

The South Hill squad placed behind Alfred University and Hartwick College, defeating RIT and Nazareth College. 

The Bombers’ next meet is at noon January 17th at the Henry Kumpf Invitational at Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute.
