On the first day of competition Friday, sophomore Antoine Connors defended his state title in the 50-yard freestyle with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.05 seconds. Sophomore Jeff Rapp set a six-year old Ithaca College record in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing third in 1:55.71. Sophomore diver Derek Rand finished eighth overall on the 1-meter dive to earn all-state honors with a score of 382.55.
Rapp set a second school record on Saturday in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing fourth in 52.33 seconds.
Connors and Rapp met NCAA provisional qualifying standards Sunday in the 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle, respectively. Rand finished in sixth place on the 3-meter dive with a score of 414.75. The 400-yard freestyle relay team composed of Rapp, Connors, freshman Jake Robbins and junior Steve Croucher finished third in 3:07.91.
The Bombers scored 876.5 points over the weekend, narrowly edging Alfred University by half a point in the overall standings.
