Bombers take down Hobart

The men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to four games yesterday with a 7–2 win over Hobart College at the Bristol Field House in Geneva, N.Y. This match had to be relocated to Hobart due to the inclement weather in Ithaca.

Junior Taylor Borda dismissed his opponent 6–2, 6–3 in first singles, while sophomore Josh Rifkin remained undefeated winning 6–1, 6–2. Freshman Jimmy Newton earned a point for the Bombers, with a 6–4, 6–1 win. Junior Danny Wolk fought through three sets, winning 6–1, 7–6, (7–2). Sophomore Dan Adelman dropped a point to Hobart, losing in straight sets 6–3, 6–1, while freshman Dan Levine was also defeated 6–2, 6–3.

The Bombers swept the doubles competition, with the regionally ranked doubles team of Borda and Rifkin setting the tone with an 8–1 win. Newton and Wolk matched Borda and Rifkin with an 8–1 victory, while Adelman and senior co-captain Andrew Dunnick wrapped up doubles with an 8–6 victory.

The team’s next match was originally scheduled against St. Lawrence University for today at the Ithaca College Tennis Courts. It has been postponed with no make-up date yet announced. The Bombers return to action at 4 p.m. Friday against Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
