Aided by early victories from two of their three doubles teams, the Bombers jumped out to a 2–1 lead before entering singles play. Senior Taylor Borda and junior Josh Rifkin continued their stellar play at first doubles this season with a convincing 8–2 win to start the match. Following a loss by the Bombers at third doubles, sophomore Jimmy Newton and senior Danny Wolk narrowly held on to their match at second doubles in a tiebreaker 9–8 (7–5).
In singles play, Newton, Rifkin and Borda continued their momentum from doubles play by winning each of their matches in straight sets. Wolk dropped the first set of his match 4–6 before coming back to win the final two sets 6–1, 10–8. Freshman Josh Berggrun won at fifth singles 6–2, 6–3.
The South Hill squad returns to action at noon Saturday when it squares off against Alfred University on the Ithaca College Tennis Courts.
