Blue and Gold win ECACs
The men’s track and field team won its fourth straight Empire 8 Championship this weekend—its sixth in the past seven years. The team won seven total events and earned 245 points and 17 all-conference honors at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Freshman David Geary won both the 800- and 1,500-meter runs to earn Track Athlete of the Meet. In the 800-meter Geary finished with a time of 1:59.81 and in the 1,500-meter he recorded a time of 4:08.08. Behind Geary, freshman Billy Savage finished a close second in the 800-meter with a time of 1:59.98. In the 1,500-meter senior Curt Bell also finished second behind Geary with a time of 4:08.38.

Junior Max Orenstein won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 10.81 and 22.12, respectively. He also qualified for the ECAC Championship later this spring in both events. Fellow junior Jeff Wetmore finished second behind Orenstein in both events and also qualified for the ECAC in both. He finished with times of 10.92 and 22.17, respectively.

Junior Kyle Devins won the long jump with a distance of 7.01 meters. He is currently ranked 18th in the nation in the long jump.

Freshman Chris Mastrosimone qualified for the ECAC Championship when he won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.86.

Senior Andrew Brown finished second in the pole vault with a distance of 4.57 meters and qualified for the ECAC Championship.

Freshman Matt Confer also qualified for the ECAC Championship finishing third in the 110-meter hurdles with at time of 15.65.
