Joe Bagliere was elected for junior class senator, sophomore Alex Bates for sophomore class senator, freshman Sophie Glassman for Humanities and Sciences senator and sophomore Jake Tenenbaum for Business School senator.
All four students ran unopposed for their senate seats. They were required to give a short speech about the reasons they wanted to join the SGA.
Bagliere said he wants to get involved in the food services committee along with sustainability.
“I want to make it easier for students with food allergies and to give more recognition to it,” he said. “I also want to help out on the sustainability. Options are limitless.”
Bates was already involved with the SGA on an unofficial basis when she was invited to come to a senate meeting.
“Sustainability is my main focus,” she said. “I am hoping to help out with the shuttle proposal from Circles to campus as well as the green fee.”
The green fee is a fee added to the total cost of enrollment; it goes into a separate account for a group of students to decide on how the money could be used for sustainable purposes.
Glassman decided to become part of the SGA because she thought it was a good way to get more involved on campus.
“I want to join the First Year Experience committee and plan more events for [the freshmen housing],” she said.
Tenenbaum hopes to get involved in the budget aspect of the SGA as well as sustainability.
“I want to join the budge committee because I have a budgeting background,” he said. “Sustainability is also important because I’m part of the Business School.”
Junior Daniel Cassell, SGA vice president of academics, said he is excited to be working with the new senators.
“They all seem like a really good group of students,” he said. “I’m getting to know them all pretty well.”
The SGA meets every Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. in the Taughannock Falls Room.
