The Blue and Gold used a combination of an explosive offense and solid pitching to get the job done. The Bombers scored 40 runs combined in the four games, while only giving up 10. This latest steak has been a part of the team’s ongoing trend of getting better in ever contest.
“I think we are staying the course,” head coach Deb Pallozzi said. “We aren’t panicking. We just need to continuously get better.”
The team is peaking at the right time, and can win the Empire 8 regular season title outright with a victory Friday against Alfred University. The Bombers do play two non-league doubleheaders against SUNY-Oneonta and Cornell University before that game though, giving the team some game time to get the little parts of the game right.
“We are going to put all of our energy in winning on Friday,” sophomore Allison Greaney said. “We are going to use these games now to clean things up and focus on perfecting our game.”
Focus will be important, as it will be hard not to look ahead of Tuesday and Wednesday’s games.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to stay even-keeled,” junior Caitlin Ryan said. “Just get the job done and hit the ball.”
The next action for the Blue and Gold is at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow against SUNY-Oneonta at Kostrinsky Field.
