Blue and Gold rally to beat Geneseo

The volleyball team improved its record to 8–6 after defeating SUNY-Geneseo 3–1 on Wednesday, Sept 23. The team dropped the first set to the Knights (17–25) before rallying back to win three straight sets and pull out the victory.

Juniors Rachel Busch and Jen Heberton led the way offensively, each recording 10 kill shots. Freshman Jessica Hoeffner was also an offensive threat with nine kill shots of her own. Tina Orlandini recorded an impressive 28 digs defensively, and added four serving aces as well. She leads the team with 223 total digs on the season.

After dropping the first set, the Bombers found themselves tied 17–17 late in the second game. The team then rallied behind the serving of Sophomore Taylor Horton, winning six consecutive points. The Blue and Gold eventually went on to win the match, 17-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

The South Hill squad will take its two-game winning streak to the Empire 8 crossover tournament at Stevens Institute of Technology. The tournament starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Hoboken, N.J.
