The team continued its recent struggles in the 3–1 loss. Ithaca is now winless in its last three matches, and 3–7 in its most recent ten outings. The team did improve its numbers against Cortland since their last meeting at the Rochester Institute of Technology Tournament on Sept. 12.
In the previous meeting between the two, the Bomber squad went winless in the sets, losing 0–3. This time, the South Hill squad pulled out the third set over the Red Dragons, 25–19. A 5–1 start for Ithaca in that set led to back-to-back serving aces for junior Corinna Doctor. Doctor had three aces overall to go with her 11 digs and 27 assists in the match.
Freshman Jessica Hoeffner also contributed to the offense, leading the way for Blue and Gold with 8 kill shots. But the third set victory was all the Bombers could muster before falling to Cortland for the second straight time this season.
