The win kept Ithaca’s top spot in the Empire 8 with a now spotless 10–0 conference record. Yet, Ithaca’s unblemished record was in doubt for a majority of the game.
“They were shooting lights out,” senior Katherine Bixby said. “Because we had that long 10-day break in between games we were just forcing it and feeling a little rushed. There wasn’t good flow in the first half.”
With 12:52 left in the second half, RIT held a 10-point lead over the Bombers, but a freshman Devin Shea bucket started a 13–0 Bombers’ run. That run turned into a 26–3 Ithaca run which propelled them to a 25-point victory.
Bixby ended up with 20 points, while classmate Lindsay Brown matched her with 20 as well. Brown also shared the team lead in rebounding with junior Elissa Klie with seven on the day. Klie tallied 16 points.
In the loss, Leslie Havens scored 18 points for the Tigers, while Sharon Dennis pulled down 13 rebounds.
The Bombers are back in action Friday against Alfred University.
