The main difference in the game was the field goal percentage, as the Bombers shot a startling 59.3 percent in the second half, compared to Elmira’s 24 percent.
Ithaca started out slowly, as they clung to a 10-point lead for the greater part of the first half. The second half was a completely different story, though, with the Bombers winning that period by 25.
“We knew what they were going to try to do, and that was come inside and take advantage of their size over us,” junior Elissa Klie said. “We did a pretty good job, especially in the second half, of stopping that.”
In their last regular season game in Ben Light Gymnasium, seniors Lindsay Brown and Katherine Bixby led the team with 16 and 13 points, respectively. The two combined for seven threes on the day.
In the losing effort, Elmira guard Chelsey Kent scored 12 points for the Pioneers. The Bombers get back in action on Friday at Stevens Institute of Technology, which will hopefully be a positive experience in extending the streak.
“We’re on a roll here,” junior Jordan Confessore said. “So if we keep playing well we’ll do really well.”
