| Contributing Writer

The No. 13 nationally ranked women’s cross country team took first-place at the Oswego Invitational on Saturday. It was the team’s second first-place finish in as many meets.

It was senior captain Lindsey Nadolski’s first competitive race of the year as she set the tone for the team placing first overall with a time of 17:00. Freshman Heidi Baumbach followed up her strong third-place performance in the team’s first meet, with a fourth place finish of 17:31. Sophomore Catherine Ortiz, senior Kasey Currier and junior Amanda Boccio rounded out Ithaca’s top 5.

Despite humid overcast conditions, the team’s perseverance showed, finishing every runner within the top 90 in a field of 153. The Blue and Gold finished with 46 points, 13 ahead of second place team SUNY-Cortland.

The next meet for the South Hill squad will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cougar Classic at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa.
