Bombers take second at Hamilton

The women’s cross country team finished second overall at the Hamilton College Invitational in Clinton, N.Y. The Bombers finished with 49 total points, trailing only first place Queen’s University, which had 25. The Blue and Gold finished with seven runners in the top 25, with several of them setting career best times for a five kilometer race.

 

Senior co-captain Lindsey Nadolski finished first overall in her second meet of the season in a field of 128 runners. She took 12 seconds off her career best time in a 5K, finishing with a time of 17:38. Freshman Heidi Baumbach also set a new career best, finishing seventh overall with a time of 18:37, 43 seconds faster than her previous time.

 

Senior Melanie McCormick finished 12 overall, while sophomore Catherine Ortiz and junior Amanda Boccio finished back-to-back in 15 and 16. Ortiz set a new career best with a time of 18:59, a three second improvement. Senior Kasey Currier crossed the line in 18 to round out the top 20.

 

The next action for the South Hill squad is at 11 a.m. Oct. 24 at the John Reif Memorial Classic at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
