Three Bombers compete at nationals

With three athletes competing at the NCAA Championships on Friday and Saturday, the women’s indoor track team finished 54th out 68 teams.

Freshman Emma Dewart led the way for the Blue and Gold with a seventh place finish out of 13 competitors in the pentathlon. Her 3,207 points, a career-best, gave her All-American honors.

Dewart’s best performance was in the high jump where she finished fifth at 1.57 meters. In the rest of the events, she was sixth-best in the shot put with a throw of 8.96 meters, eighth-best in the long jump at 4.96 meters and ninth-best in both the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 seconds and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.25.

Sophomore Marcia McCord picked up 14th in the triple jump at 10.93 meters. She also finished 10th in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.11 seconds.

Sophomore Kate Leugers earned 13th in the preliminaries of the mile run with a time of 5:02.85.

The Bombers take two weeks off from competition before hosting the Ithaca Invitational on March 28 at Butterfield Stadium to open their outdoor season.
