Squad clinches playoff berth with one-goal victory against Hartwick

The women's lacrosse team defeated Hartwick College 16-15 yesterday, clinching the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 playoff tournament. The Bombers will face top-seeded Nazareth College Saturday in the first round.
Against the Hawks, senior Kim Medla had the finest offensive performance of her outstanding career, tallying a career-high six goals. She also added one assist, increasing her career point total to 166. Medla's 137 career goals are fourth on the all-time list.
Junior Becky Bedard finished with five assists, increasing her season total to a team-high 30 assists. Her career total of 63 ranks her fourth all-time at Ithaca. Senior Meagan Howell netted four goals, while freshman Catherine Hurley tallied two scores.
Senior Emily Brooks made three saves in the game, picking up her sixth win of the season in the process.
The next game for the women's lacrosse team will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Carp Wood Field against William Smith College.
