Stierly won his first three matches all by decision, but fell in the final round 10–4 to Myanganbayar Batsukh of St. John’s University to finish second. He was one of just two unseeded wrestlers to place in the top-20 finalists and recorded the best finish for any Ithaca wrestler since 2002.
