Squad goes 1–1 at Heron Cup
| Staff Writer
The weekend started off on a low note, as the Bombers lost 2–0 to William Smith on Saturday. Though they were shut out, the offense was not stagnant at all. The team managed to take 20 shots on goal, led by senior Chelsey Feldman with had five. The only problem for the Blue and Gold was finishing.
Sunday was a much better day, as shots on goal starting going in the net from the very beginning. With seven first half goals, the Bombers coasted their way to a 9–0 victory. Those nine goals resulted from Ithaca controlling the ball, as it topped its 20 shots on goal from the previous day with 23.
Highlighting the day was two hat tricks for the South Hill squad. Feldman recorded hers in the first seven minutes of the game, while sophomore Kelley Hand recorded one as well. She was one of three Bombers to record their first career goal on the day as freshmen Marla Schilling and Kelly Walsh also scored a goal.
The defense matched the offense’s effort as sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Platt only had two shots to worry about on her way to her first career shutout.
The Bombers will look to continue to improve on their 2–1–1 record at noon Saturday against Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.
