Scheffer nodded in a header seven minutes into the extra period off a feed from freshman defender Caroline Jastremski to advance the Blue and Gold further in the tournament. It was the fourth goal of the tournament for the All-American senior midfielder, giving her a career high 35 points in 2009.
The Bombers opened up the scoring in the 59th minute when Scheffer converted on a low shot just inside the right post. Rowan tied the game in the 82nd minute on forward Jessica Babice’s 22nd goal of the year. Junior goalkeeper Jessica Platt made three saves.
Ithaca outshot the Owls 17–10 and had three corner kicks to their one.
The South Hill squad will face No. 23 ranked The College of New Jersey, who beat an undefeated Williams College team in the earlier semifinal, in tomorrow's sectional finale.
