The women's soccer team's 2009 season came to a close with a 1–0 loss to No. 23 The College of New Jersey in the quarterfinal matchup of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament held in Williamstown, Mass. It was the third loss for Ithaca in the tournament quarterfinals in as many years.
The Blue and Gold had a scoring opportunity in the 62nd minute when an 18-yard shot from sophomore midfielder Megan Trager was denied by the crossbar. The only score of the game came off the foot of Lions' forward Briann McDonough in the 71st minute. McDonough received a pass in the middle of the field and dribbled the ball around Bombers' junior goalkeeper Jessica Platt before putting it in the back of the net.
Platt made a total of nine saves in the game.
The Bombers threatened to score in the final 10 minutes with a 20-yard shot by senior midfielder Amy Scheffer that was caught by Lions' goalkeeper Jessica Clarke.
