Underclassmen lead Blue and Gold at Greyhound Invitational

This past weekend at Moravian College’s Greyhound Invitational, the women’s track and field team had a number of first-time qualifiers for ECACs.

Freshman Lindsay Pehmoeller finished third in the hammer throw and qualified for ECACs with a distance of 43.10 meters. Following Pehmoeller was senior Megan Murphy, who placed fifth in the hammer throw, and senior Nancy Andersen, who finished sixth. In the shot put, junior Melissa Blitzstein notched a fifth-place finish with a distance of 11.04 meters.

In the jumping events, freshman Alison Siderko tied with sophomore Lauren Koppel in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters.

Koppel also achieved a season best time in the 100-meter hurdles and placed third with a time of 15.18 seconds.

In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Kasey Currier took seventh. Junior Stephanie Holowacz finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The next meet for the women's track and field team will take place at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butterfield Stadium in the Ithaca Tri-Meet.
