Happy Birthday, Sesame Street!

Michelle Obama stopped in for the 40th anniversary episode of Sesame Street today to help celebrate it’s long legacy. I’m a classic Sesame Street kid—proud to say I am a product of that generation.

It’s strange though…I’ve heard about the more recent episodes of the show and how it tackles social issues like war, conflict and the economy. I understand counting to 40, but do kids really need to be exposed to this stuff so early? And on top of that, on a show that should act as an escape from the real world?

Just a thought.
