Good riddance

James Pickens Jr. has confirmed to Us Weekly that his Grey’s Anatomy costars Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are checking out of Seattle Grace.

There’s no word yet on when or how the two will make their exits, but I think the real question we should be asking ourselves is: So what? Izzie’s recent story arcs have been nothing less than garbage as of late, and George has been all-but-invisible for most of this season. So, really, who cares?

I’ve been hating on Grey’s pretty hard as of late, but I honestly think the show is headed back in the right direction. I’m enjoying Lexie and Mark as a couple; I’m looking forward to Callie’s next lesbian escapade; and, hell, I can even stomach Meredith and Derek’s trainwreck of a relationship.

Whether the show’s success will continue on — or if it will go the way of some of the network’s other supposed “hit shows” — remains to be seen.
