henny shoes.

These shoes are so ridiculous that I love them. Obviously, Hennessy is baller - why not rock the shoes while you’re sippin? Actually…don’t do that. Not cool. But I like this idea of extending a brand do an entirely different department. Hennessy is a high-quality liquor and has the brand equity to move on other products.

Shoes are the perfect choice. They were designed by Jhung Yuro and go on sale December 1st on his website for $300.

Considering what other athletic designer shoes cost, this actually isn’t a bad price. Furthermore, in comparison to women’s designer shoes, like my faves Christian Louboutin, the price is less half of what they would cost you. I don’t know if I’d actually ever get these shoes, but they seem like a great marketing idea. If you’ve got 3-hundy layin around, why not?

the paraty bag.

Being out in LA, it’s hard not to want to buy, well, everything. I’ve already blown through most of the money I saved this summer. But, if there’s any place you should stay up to date on the latest trends it’s LA. Sure, it’s important to stay in the loop in Manhattan, but there’s a certain freedom that exists in LA. You can wear whatever you want, whenever you want and no one will ask.

Every aspect of them ensemb is important, but there’s nothing like a handbag. The new “it” bag is Chloe’s Paraty Bag. But, you better get on the waiting list for this one. Stars like Charleze Theron and Katie Holmes are already rockin’ their Paraty bags.

Beware of the steep investment, $1,910 for black leather and $3,820 for white python. Chloe.com

google is taking over the world.

There have been a few attempts to top Apple’s iPhone (I swear this isn’t a blog about Apple products), but in my Brink opinion, no company has been successful.

The LG Dare is cool because it has a sketch pad that let’s you draw pictures and send them and can record video. But the web browser and media player aren’t as good as the iPhone. And that cheesy commercial with woman on the ledge of a building didn’t help. The Samsung Instinct doesn’t match up either, but is a better stab at the iPhone. It’s got integrated GPS, works with Microsoft Outlook, and includes Sprint’s mobile TV. Lastly, the LG Vu. It’s also touch screen and offers broadcast TV - I’ve gotta admit that’s pretty cool. But, the VU doesn’t support WiFi, which is just weird.

But now, T-Mobile and Google got some serious game. The T-Mobile G1, the first mobile device will be available in stores in the United States on October 22 and will cost $179. The T-Mobile chief technology and innovation officer called the G1, a “game-changing device” that will “power a new mobile internet of the future.”

The device will be a little thicker and slightly narrower than the iPhone, it offers many of the features of the iPhone and BlackBerry including a touch screen similar to that of the iPhone, a trackball for navigation, high-speed Internet browsing, Wi-Fi, e-mail, instant messaging and SMS texting. One of the perks will be a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Obviously, I’m still partial to my iPhone because it’s the best phone EVER. But, the G1 sounds pretty legit. (Sucks that it’s white though, right?)

the new nano.

How sick is the new iPod nano? I’m not one to care about specific iPods, I mean I have the old, old thick iPod mini. But…I actually want this one. And not just in one color. I need them all otherwise it’s not the same. No rainbow effect=no fun.

Plus, I hear if you shake it it’ll shuffle your songs. Oh, baby.

Go Apple! (shamelss plug)

the t-qualizer.

Ladies and Gents I give you…The T-Qualizer. It’s a sound activated illuminating t-shirt. It’s kind of like the visualizer on your computer when you play music - it moves with the beat. Each bar on the shirt acts like a different frequency on an equalizer. A little batter pack can fit secretly in your back pocket..

So that’s how Kanyeeze does it…

fine eateriessss

This week I took some time off writing to experience L.A. dining so I could write about it in Brink!

Ok, I lied, I completely forgot to write. My bad.

Everyone says that Ithaca has the best restaurants, but you can only eat at Mahogany Grill so many times. For all those deeply interested in good eats, this is for you.

I had the chance (and funds) to go to Beso on Sunset Blvd. on Tuesday. The restaurant is a collaboration between Todd English (one of my faves) and Eva Longoria. Drinks were typical at $12 - $15. I ordered the “Bees Knees” which was gin, honey, and a hint of lime, which was pretty strong but deeelightful. Instead of your typical bread and butter, Beso gave us homemade flatbread with tomato pesto. For dinner, I ordered an heirloom tomato salad with a fried squash blossom and “Eva’s homemade tortilla soup.” Both were amazing, but not quite worth the price. The server brought out the bowl of soup sans broth and poured it over a brush stroke of avocado that was on the bowl - a nice touch indeed.

And last night, seven of us went to Geisha House on Hollywood.

Family style asian fusion. Need I say more? Best spicy tuna roll I’ve ever had - take that Asia Cuisine. Tempura rock shrimp, udon noodles, edamame, salads, miso soup, hollywood rolls, drinks all around. Amazing time. Our server, Andy, was the best and gave us all a round of shots on the house. Geisha girls were roaming the restaurant and lots of 30 something guys were hanging at the bar on the prowl. We were lucky enough to meet a few nice guys visiting from England. Their friend was a club promoter and got us all into this lounge down the street. We didn’t wait in line and didn’t pay for drinks.

Not to mention the always nearby, In-N-Out burger, Baja Fresh, and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Why can’t Ithaca be more like this?

music. mayhem. music.

Don’t forget to watch the MTV VMAs tonight at 9 p.m. sharp (at least on the west coast). Supposedly Britney Spears is supposed to open again, maybe she’ll be an even hotter mess than last year.

Friday a handful of Ithaca students, including yours truly, were able to attend the MTV VMA Official Kick-off Party!! The party was hosted by Jermaine Dupri and Tag Records at Avalon in Hollywood. We all had a blast while Fabolous performed and Tag Records new artisits, Q.

Let’s just say: JD + VMAs + Open Bar = one ridiculous night ending in me giving Jermaine a pound at the DJ booth

green…ice cubes?

“Nordic Ice Rocks have been mined from pollution-free Swedish rocks, formed into cubes, and brought to market as a natural, reusable beverage cooling solution.”

Basically these bad boys are clean rocks that look like ice cubes. You put ‘em in your fridge for an hour and they cool your drink, as would an ice cube. I guess they keep your water clean, and hey they’re reusable.

Ice Rocks come in a set of 10, and I have no idea where you get them. Peace!
