UC Davis student arrested for bomb making

bomb guyA freshman at the University of California Davis was arrested today when pipe-bomb making materials were found in his dorm room, police there said.

School officials evacuated more than 400 students from nearby dorms, but none of the explosives the student, 18-year-old Mark Christopher Woods, had in his room were anywhere near completion, police said.

The student’s roommate told campus authorities that he is a very curious student “who just likes to experiment.” With bombs.

However, both police and high school friends said the student probably had no malicious intent. An old classmate put it this way (no pun intended):

“I think it got [blown] out of proportion,” she said.
