Dominating the game

The University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team played a Super Bowl-like game last night. Well, back when the Super Bowl wasn’t a closely contested game. The No. 1 ranked team in the country remained undefeated today as it took down Louisville 84-38. And that was a rematch of last year’s national championship game.

The Huskies have changed the game of women’s basketball, outscoring their opponents 1,925-1,020. While it’s generally left for one of ESPN’s sister networks or some other rarely watched sports channel, this team has brought out just a couple thousand shy of what its male counterpart has. I know it sounds insignificant, but compared to attendance at women’s basketball games across the country, it’s pretty good.

If the Huskies don’t go on to win the national championship, it’d be a complete upset. So why not do something different this year? Instead of filling out a men’s bracket during March Madness, why not give women’s a try? At least you’ll get the winner right.
