Kristen Stewart as Snow White: it could happen

Kristen-Stewart_240

Before you go sloshing around and kicking all over the place, hear me out. First, the news: Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Kristen Stewart, star of the hit movie saga “Twilight,” has been offered the part of Snow White in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” a remake of the classic Disney princess film. The film is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders (check out that impressive IMDB resume).

Why ‘Glee’ could go on forever (but won’t)

While sitting in my British Comedy class last week, my professor said something that struck a chord with me. He pointed out how in the UK, many writers of popular shows will cut off their series at a very early stage. Take the UK (original) version of the now-hit show “The Office.” The celebrated series had only 14 episodes. That’s right. 14. Instead of capitalizing on a franchise that could have been more popular, the writers of the show didn’t extend the show to an exorbitant amount of episodes. Call it art for art’s sake. Not for profit.

Cheer up, Charlie

Charlie Sheen has agreed to go to rehab. “Two and a Half Men” is shutting down for the time being. And SO many entertainment news sites are sweating profusely with the news. Just in case you haven’t heard, the CBS sitcom star has been battling with drugs, alcohol and other unsavory things for quite some time now.

Theater in Londontown

A scene from "War Horse," one of the most popular plays in London that is coming to Broadway and the big screen.

This semester I’m spending four months in London studying abroad through Ithaca College. As daunting of a step it was to sign away a semester of my life in a foreign country, I’m starting to get more acclimated to the country and oddly enough feeling very much at home. And of course, one of the most exciting prospects of being here is seeing the amazing theater that the city has to offer.

Oscars, baby

Sorry, Bella Swan. But Black Swan was much better.

It’s that time of year again. Movies get snubbed, some get glory. Here are my picks for this year. What are you thinking for this year’s nominees? Do your own ballot and share them in the comments.

How I Learned to Drive

I can say, hands down, that “How I Learned to Drive” is not only the best production of the semester, but the best straight play I’ve seen at the college since “The Exonerated,” which was the first show I ever saw at Ithaca.

Lots of new stuff on B’way

“The 2010-11 Broadway season is shaping up as a bounty of new musicals with ambitious original scores. But new songs, untested on Broadway, come with risk, both artistically and — especially this season — financially.”
