Entering its 2010 spring campaign, the men’s tennis team had one goal: win the Empire 8 tournament. Currently undefeated in conference, the Blue and Gold stand poised to make a run for their second consecutive conference title and third title in four years.

Bombers extend winning streak

The men’s tennis team won their 11th straight match and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 9–0 win against St. John Fisher College Tuesday afternoon. The Bombers, currently ranked 16th in the region, surrendered 11 games as a team in the match.

Blue and Gold continue winning streak with win over Alfred

The men’s tennis team swept Alfred University 9–0 yesterday at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University. The victory extended Ithaca’s Empire 8 regular season winning streak to an unprecedented 17 matches stretching back to 2008.

When sophomore Jimmy Newton and senior Danny Wolk were first paired last spring, nothing worked. Both players could hold the serve, but neither could break. That was until they switched sides and everything changed for the men’s tennis team’s No. 2 doubles tandem.

Bombers take down Stevens

The men’s tennis team pulled off an inspiring victory Saturday by defeating conference foe Stevens Institute of Technology 5–4. The match, held indoors at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University, came down to the final pairing where senior Danny Wolk narrowly won in three sets.

Men’s tennis wins sixth in a row

The men’s tennis team won its final non-conference match of the season yesterday, defeating Hobart College 8–1 in Geneva, N.Y.
