The Ithaca College wrestling team has quietly strung together a streak of eight straight victories over the rival SUNY Cortland Red Dragons dating back to 2016. The Bombers and Red Dragons last meeting on Jan. 13 ended in a 43–2 Bombers victory.

Every Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland student and alum knows about the historic Cortaca Jug football game that takes place every fall. However, the intense spectacle of the rivalry extends into other sports, including wrestling.

Bombers look forward to 64th annual Cortaca Jug game returning to Ithaca

For the first time since 2017, the Cortaca jug game is returning to the South Hill for the 64th edition of the “Biggest Little Game in the Nation” as the Ithaca College football team welcomes SUNY Cortland back to the Ithaca College campus.

Football decimates Saints to complete Liberty League sweep

The Ithaca College football team defeated the St. Lawrence Saints by a final score of 51–14, the win earning the Bombers a second straight season of sweeping its Liberty League opponents.

Athletics victory song makes dreams come true

While “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” is far from a traditional victory song, Will Rothermel, former associate director of Athletics, said the energetic intro made it the perfect celebration song.

When the clock hit zero at the end of the fourth quarter, the Bombers had come out on top for the 38th time in the rivalry’s history with a 34–17 win at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland football teams held a joint press conference at noon Nov. 9 in the Emerson Suites to celebrate the quickly approaching Cortaca Jug game.
Ithaca College announced that Bruce Beck 78, who is an anchor for WNBC in New York City, will be the announcer for the Cortaca Jug game in Yankee Stadium.

NBC sports anchor to announce Cortaca Jug alongside Ithaca College students

Ithaca College and the YES Network announced Nov. 8 that Bruce Beck ’78 will be the play-by-play announcer for the coverage of the Cortaca Jug game Nov. 12.
The 2022 Cortaca Jug game, held at Yankee Stadium, will be broadcast on YES Network, according to statements by Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland.

2022 Cortaca Jug game to be televised on YES Network

Ithaca College announced that the 2022 Cortaca Jug game will be broadcast live on YES Network. In addition, the game will be moved up from 1 p.m. to noon Nov. 12.
The 2022 Cortaca Jug game will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at Yankee Stadium. The college will also be hosting IC in the City, an alumni reunion and Cortaca 22 festivities throughout the weekend. Tickets will be available for $28.50 located in the designated college section at the stadium.
