John Rosenthal, council member and professor in the Department of Mathematics presented the summary of the approved budget for the 2016–17 fiscal year to the council at the March 22 meeting. Rosenthal said he was concerned with the ambiguity of where and how much money is being spent for each school.

Faculty Council criticizes lack of budget transparency

The Faculty Council is planning to distribute Ithaca College’s budget to all faculty with the attached criticism that it is “deeply lacking detail.” The council is also preparing to launch its diversity and inclusion database by the end of this week.

Faculty Council to choose reps for Shared Governance task force

Provost Benjamin Rifkin proposed changes, including creating more college-wide consistency and lowering spending in the faculty candidate search process at his first faculty council meeting Sept. 1.
“Frankly, if I were a member of the [Ithaca College Board of Trustees,] I wouldn’t have voted for a budget with such vagueness,” John Rosenthall,  executive committee member and professor of mathematics, said. “But they approved it.”
