“Girl Meets World” gets its “Boy” back

The upcoming “Boy Meets World” sequel “Girl Meets World” plans have been viral for a while now, but news broke this week that the main couple from the “Boy Meets World” are officially signed on to “Girl Meets World” — making it sound more and more promising.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, who respectively played Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, are now officially cast in “GMW. Still the happily married couple we remember from the original show, they will play return to their characters as parents to thirteen-year-old daughter Riley.

Currently uncast, Riley will be the star of “Girl Meets World.” She and her best friend Maya (whose role will be similar to Shawn’s) will lead the show.

Many other “Boy Meets World” cast members are theorized to be returning, but executive producer Michael Jacobs has not announced any other returners.

“Girl Meets World” is still in development and will air on the Disney Channel.
