The City of Ithaca Common Council unanimously approved a sanctuary city ordinance at its Feb. 1 meeting, which dozens of Ithaca residents attended. Mayor Svante Myrick presented the ordinance to declare Ithaca a sanctuary city for immigrants in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order Jan. 27 placing a temporary ban on immigrants coming from seven Muslim-majority countries.
