Today’s top news and events

1. Kol Haverim, also known as the Finger Lakes Community for Humanistic Judaism, will hold a ceremony in observance of the United Nation’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lifelong Center at 119 W. Court St. The event will include a short ceremony and a presentation by David Kay, senior extension associate with the Community & Regional Development Institute at Cornell University.

2. IC Greens is hosting the Songs for Syria Concert at 7 p.m. tonight in Emerson Suites. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds will be donated to Unicef’s “Help Syrian Children” fund. The concert will feature performances by Ithacappella, Premium Blend and Voicestream.

3. The Bombers gymnastics team will compete against Springfield College at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ben Light Gymnasium.

In the reapplication email sent March 20, Ithaca Colleges Residential Life identified 14 five-person Circle Apartments that could be given to 51 four-person groups that applied for the apartments.
High demand for on-campus apartments prompts first-ever reapplication process
The Terrace Elevator Connector Project includes a new elevator that will make six stops through the ground floor of the Terrace Dining Hall up to Terrace 1; an accessible walkway that will connect Baker Walkway and the Terrace Bridge level to the dining hall; and two all-gender bathrooms on the ground floor of the dining hall. The only accessible entrance to the dining hall is on the west side of the building.

Laundry machines across Ithaca Colleges campus have caused disruptions in several residence halls. Residential Life said it is working to lease laundry machines from a different provider.

The results of the report concluded that undergraduate students with no disability or a single disability; who identify as men or women; who were not first-generation students; and who were white had a higher sense of belonging at the college than students with multiple disabilities, who identify on the transgender spectrum and are first-gen students.

Students have expressed confusion and concern over health insurance at the center. The navigator will give students personal help with their insurance to help combat any confusion students may have. There will only be one navigator to start, but if the position is well received, there might be more added. 
Health center plans to hire professional to guide students through insurance processes
Students who deal with financial hardship and know they will not be able to pay off their bill by the due date are encouraged to reach out to SFS and communicate that with the office. Students who pay off their bill after being unregistered will reregister for their classes based on the availability of classes left.
