Katharyn Howd Machan, professor in the Ithaca College Department of Writing, has been writing poems about her relationship with her daughter since 1987, and she recently published her collection, titled “A Slow Bottle of Wine.” The collection is about Machan’s experiences with love and her daughter’s former heroin addiction.
Ithaca’s historic Bool’s Flower Shop will be the stage for a site-specific production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” complete with the fresh scents of blooming roses and fertilizer.
Simon said she wants Ithacans to focus more on their emotional health, realizing that it’s OK to treat themselves and indulge in a little self-love.
Victor Rosa was a groundskeeper and light equipment operator for Ithaca College starting in 1997 until he retired in 2016. Rosa also has another nickname: DJ Vic.
“This space isn’t only for artwork, it’s also to connect with people who are part of the community,” Armour said.
“It’s a definite source of pride that this piece, which has already won a ton of awards, is being worked on at home,” conductor Susan Avery said.
