Men’s Basketball: Blue and Gold soar over Hawks to remain undefeated in conference

The men’s basketball team traveled to Oneonta, N.Y. on Friday night and took down host Hartwick College (12–2, 1–2 Empire 8), 73-71.

With the victory, the Bombers earned their longest winning streak of the season with three consecutive triumphs. The Blue and Gold now stand at 3–0 in Empire 8 Conference play after starting the season with a 3–8 overall record.

Junior guard Sean Rossi scored a season-high 19 points, sophomore forward and center Frank Mitchell added 18 and senior guard Jordan Marcus sunk nine points to go along with six rebounds.

South Hill was able to overcome an impressive free throw shooting performance by the Hawks, who shot a perfect 21-21 from the free throw line. Though the Bombers only went 7-11 from the charity stripe, their inside play proved to be crucial, as they outscored Hartwick 30-16 inside the paint.

The South Hill squad is now 1—5 on the road this season. They hit the road again today, traveling to Stevens Institute of Technology for a 4 p.m. matchup.
